About The Coastal Camera Club
The Coastal Camera Club roots come from the defunct F-Stop Camera Club. In 2000 twelve members of the old F-Stop Camera Club came together to form the Coastal Camera Club. Richard Rhoads was elected as our first president. He was a Navy photographer and a 40 year member of the Bucks County Camera Club which is located PA. The new club held meetings at the community building in the Community of Old Landing in Rehoboth. Our club has grown over the years from that group of 12 to around 250 members today. We are lucky enough to have two of those original members still in our club today --Bobbie Rainey and Kathy Boyd.
Over the years our club has adapted to many changes within the photography landscape. We've moved from film and slides to digital capture and processing. Our competitions moved from pen and pencil scoring to electronic scoring and ultimately to zoom competitions. The club added new programs to accommodate the various interests of our members. We created our Special Interest Groups (SIG) to allow photographers to focus their efforts on a particular aspect of photography. Currently there are seven different SIGs (click Here to go directly to the SIG homepage).
In 2020, COVID-19 created new challenges for our club. We made adjustments by moving our program and competition meetings to Zoom. Zoom has allowed us to recruit more distant speakers and has allowed us to expand our membership beyond the local coastal Delaware region.
The clubs first external display was in 2005 at The Vineyards in Lewes. Since then we have displayed our works at numerous local businesses, the Rehoboth Art League, the Peninsula Gallery in Lewes, the Rehoboth City Administration building and other locations.
We encourage you to join us at one of our program or competition meetings. Guests are welcome!! For guest access please contact our Vice President at boardofdirectors@coastalcameraclub.com.
